Global Village: What You Need to Know

Global Village
Credit – Global Village

Global Village is one of Dubai’s top attractions for both locals and tourists, and I totally understand why! The first time I stepped in, it felt like a mini Disney World. With 30 vibrant pavilions representing different countries, you can find a mix of food, crafts, and unique goodies. There are live shows, exciting events, and a fun-filled Carnaval for the whole family—no alcohol means everyone can join in the fun! When night falls, the pavilions light up like a fairytale, making the place truly magical.

You’ll want to spend an entire evening here because there’s so much to explore. Plus, with over 200 food outlets, it can feel overwhelming. Don’t worry; I’ve got you covered—scroll down for my food guide.

When does it open?

Global Village reopened on October 16th, 2024, and is running until May 11th, 2025. If you’re planning your visit but feeling overwhelmed, here’s everything you need to know to make the most of it.

Whats New at Global Village in 2024

This year marks Season 29, and Global Village has introduced some exciting new attractions, including three additional pavilions representing Jordan, Iraq, and Sri Lanka-Bangladesh. There’s also a brand-new Restaurant Plaza featuring 11 two-story dining options near the Carnaval, along with a revamped Railway Market and improved green promenades.

What’s Included?

A Global Village ticket includes access to the entire park, allowing you to explore 30 pavilions representing different countries, watch live shows, enjoy street entertainment, and experience cultural performances. The ticket also grants access to family-friendly zones, such as the Kidzania KidZos, theatres, and concerts.

However, certain activities are not included and cost extra, such as:

  • Rides at Carnaval, including thrill rides and games.
  • Ripley’s Believe It or Not! Museum, which is an additional attraction.
  • Dining at restaurants and food outlets across the village.
  • Shopping for crafts, souvenirs, spices, and other unique items from the pavilions.

Many people also use paid parking services, although free parking options are available as well.

Carnaval Fun

Looking for a bit of fun, head to the carnaval. Global Village’s Carnaval is great for all ages. With 195 rides, games, and attractions, there’s something for everyone—from adrenaline-pumping spinning rides to gentle options for the kiddos. The arcade offers over 125 games, blending virtual experiences with classics like darts and hoops. You’ll leave with a grin (and probably a stuffed unicorn)!

Global Village Food

Let’s talk food! With over 200 outlets and a ton of viral dishes popping up on TikTok and Instagram, figuring out what to eat at Global Village can be quite the challenge. But no worries! I’ve created a handy guide from all my visits to help you find those perfect bites!

Floating Market

Start here—trust me, it gets chaotic later!

  • Grilled Baby Octopus at Zaab Zaab: 10/10 with a killer coriander lime dip—tentacle-phobes beware!
  • Thai Grilled Mussels: Choose between zesty lemon-basil or spicy tom-yum sauce.
  • Korean Teokbokki: Chewy rice and fish cakes in a comforting tomato sauce. For the freshest, hit the stall at the far end.

Japanese Bakery

Close to the Floating Market, just outside the Yemen/Bahrain pavilions.

  • Mochi Ice Cream: A perfect palate cleanser—I prefer coconut or mango, as I’m not a fan of matcha, which is usually sold out anyway.

Pakistan Pavilion

Head back towards the Floating Market and past the Gate of the World.

  • Bun Kebabs: Chicken and chana daal with a spicy kick, served with chili tamarind chutney.
  • Claypot Chai: Soul-warming spiced tea to keep you going.

Iran Pavilion

One of the most picturesque spots with artisanal sweets made fresh before your eyes.

  • Crispy Kaak: Rolled in tahini and honey.
  • Sohan: Buttery pistachio brittle—a must-try!
  • Don’t miss shop 63 for fresh pistachio butter—go on, I dare you!

Omani Halwa Stall

Right next to Iran; look for the stall with only an Arabic sign.

  • Sample their Halwa made with brown sugar and cashews, paired perfectly with Arabic coffee (gahwa).

Palestine Pavilion

As you enter, head to the first stall on the right.

  • Za’atar Jabali: A wild za’atar mix with grilled olives, olive oil, and Nabulsi cheese. You’ll be obsessed!

Happiness Street

Home to many Tiktok viral eats!

  • If you’re not just here for the ‘gram, I highly recommend trying Bang Burger, known for its delicious Wagyu burgers served on soft brioche buns. They’re a must-have!

Railroad Market

Styled after Thailand’s famous Umbrella Market.

  • Grab a Tunisian Bambaloni Doughnut—sweet, hot, and perfect on the go!

Japan Pavilion

Don’t miss the mesmerizing Takoyaki-making process here.

  • Takoyaki: Custardy octopus balls—ask for lighter toppings.
  • Skip the mini cheesecakes—they’re a letdown.

Zool Mashawi (Sudan)

Past Thailand, near the main stage and close to the Cultural Gate.

  • Agashe: Spicy lamb strips—extra spicy powder if you’re brave!
  • Suya: Juicy lamb chops served with fries and pita.

Syria Pavilion

Located in the central pavilion area.

  • Harraq Osba’o: Dumplings in lentils with tamarind and pomegranate, topped with fried onions and pita.

Fiesta Street

Located near the Carnaval area.

  • Lets Puff: Delicious puff pastries!
  • Potato Bowl: Beef and potato served in a coconut shell.
  • Don Bambaloni: Huge Libyan and Tunisian donuts.

Thailand Pavilion

End your night on a sweet note here!

  • Mango Soft Serve: Topped with fresh mango chunks—a crowd-pleaser!
  • Coco Mango: Refreshing coconut and mango treats.

Global Village Shopping

Global Village isn’t just a foodie paradise; it’s also a shopper’s dream! Unlike the high-end malls in Dubai, you can snag unique bargains and authentic items from around the globe. Keep an eye out for delicious Yemeni honey, nourishing Moroccan argan oil, rich Turkish coffee, and stunning Pakistani fabrics.

Global Village Fireworks
