If you haven’t seen the Dubai Fountain dance to Whitney Houston or Arabian classics yet, stop everything — seriously, drop your karak — because time is running out.
Dubai’s most famous water attraction is going on a break. Yes, the Dubai Fountain closure is officially happening from April 19, 2025, for a five-month renovation. It’s the end of an era — and the start of a sleeker, splashier one.
Here’s everything you need to know (and why your Instagram feed will thank you for visiting before the curtains fall).
Yep, the rumors are true. The Dubai Fountain — that glorious water-and-light masterpiece set on Burj Lake, right next to the Dubai Mall and the Burj Khalifa — is about to take a well-deserved breather. After over a decade of wowing tourists and locals alike, the show is temporarily going dark for a major upgrade.
Last performance? April 19, 2025. After that? Silence… but only for a bit..
Okay, it’s not that sudden. The fountain has been doing heavy lifting since 2009, putting on show after show — with 22,000 gallons of water shooting up to 140 meters into the sky. Talk about high-pressure performance!
So why the Dubai Fountain closure now? Here’s what’s on the renovation checklist:
The goal? Make the fountain even more unforgettable (as if that were possible).
When it returns in October 2025, expect the Dubai Fountain 2.0 to be sleeker, smarter, and even more Instagrammable. The performances will be tighter, the lights brighter, and the soundtrack might just hit you right in the feels.
In short: it’s going from iconic… to ultra-iconic.
If you are visiting Dubai this April, catching one of the final fountain performances is a must. Shows take place in the evenings, running every 30 minutes from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. (with additional afternoon shows on weekends). The best spots? Anywhere along the waterfront promenade at the Dubai Mall or from a table at one of the many restaurants lining the lake.
Pair the show with a stroll through Souk Al Bahar, a sunset visit to the Burj Khalifa observation deck, or a luxury boat ride on the lake for the ultimate evening.
Only if you enjoy breathtaking things, world-class artistry. So, yes — absolutely.
If you’ve never watched the water leap and sway to music under the glow of the Burj Khalifa, there’s no better time. The final shows leading up to April 19 will likely be packed out and unforgettable. Can’t make it before Saturday 19th April? Don’t panic — Dubai Mallis still full of things to see, snacks to eat, and the Burj Khalifa isn’t going anywhere (thankfully).
