The Beam by Nick Alvis: Steak & Bass Frites 

I don’t think The Beam by Nick Alvis set in Le Royal Meridien Beach Resort needs much of an introduction from me. Their Sunday afternoon roast brunch is exceptional, and having been last year, we couldn’t wait to return.

This time, we were looking for something a little different. We wanted a brunch-style deal in the evening, but the food had to be good. When I heard The Beam was doing a Steak & Frites offer, which runs Tuesday to Sunday, we couldn’t book fast enough.

 

The Beam Steak & Bass Frites Deal

For AED 150 per person, you can choose between a 200g dry-aged Black Angus sirloin or a coal-fired whole Mediterranean sea bass, both served with unlimited fries, a fresh garden salad and your choice of signature sauce.

The Beam Food

Its always such a treat to get complimentary freshly made bread and delicious butter, and this is how it begins…

Hubby went for the steak deal and was in heaven. He said it was the best steak he’s had in almost a year, which, considering his ridiculously high standards when it comes to steak, is quite the statement! And yes, that delicious-looking garnish is baked garlic.

I went for the fish and chips, and it was excellent, definitely one of the best I’ve had in Dubai. The fish was crispy on the outside and beautifully flaky inside, with proper fish shop style chips, delicious tartare sauce, mushy peas and curry sauce all included. Everything you want from a good fish and chips.

We also shared the pâté, which was so smooth and buttery. It was a generous portion, so I’m glad we shared it rather than ordering one each.

I also loved that it came with thin, crispy bread rather than thick slices. It meant we didn’t fill up on bread before the main event, which is always a win!

 

The Cocktails

I’m also very happy to report that the cocktails were delicious.

I had the Tropical Beam Martini and hubby went for the Paris. The cocktail menu is quite small, but I actually liked that.

Everything felt well thought out and there were some interesting choices rather than pages and pages of cocktails that nobody knows what to order.

 

The Venue & Service

The Beam is such a gorgeous venue, and the service was top notch throughout our visit.

So, The Beam, you have officially stolen our hearts. We had such a good Saturday night and would definitely recommend giving it a try.

And yes, we’re also going to squeeze in that Sunday brunch, especially while it’s 30% off until 31st August. Don’t worry, we’re on it!
