When I first moved to Dubai, there was this small, magical spot tucked away in Souk Madinat—a place we all loved for its sunset views, free-flowing drinks, Folly brunch and that unbeatable Folly vibe.
So when it closed its doors in April 2024, it felt like the end of an era. RIP to that dreamy rooftop terrace.
But wipe away those tears! Folly is back, and it’s had a glow-up. Say hello to Folly Brasserie, now based at the Address Montgomerie in Emirates Hills. It’s got all the charm of the original, but with a fresher, glossier setting—and yes, Folly Brunch is very much on the menu.
Let’s start with the obvious—this place is stunning. I’ve been to my fair share of Dubai restaurants, but when I walked into Folly Brunch at the Address Montgomerie, I actually gasped. Not the polite kind either, a full dramatic, “Oh wow” moment.
It feels like you’ve stepped into the world’s classiest garden party—think English conservatory meets luxury picnic. Crisp black-and-white tiles, elegant olive trees, and so much natural light you’ll want to pop on your sunglasses before your first Folly Pop (yes, that cocktail with an actual ice lolly in it—more on that later). It’s like being in the Cotswolds… if the Cotswolds had better weather and and Champagne on tap .
Bring your best outfit, your appetite, and someone who’ll take 400 pictures of you under the olive tree.
Right, let’s get into the main event: the food. Folly isn’t doing your standard brunch buffet with lukewarm pasta and mystery chicken skewers. No, this is a sit-down, course-by-course kind of affair—proper posh.
Starters arrive at your table like edible VIPs—fresh oysters, beef tartare topped with a golden confit egg, and the undisputed legend of the line-up: Folly chips. And let’s be clear—these are not just chips. They’re architectural masterpieces. Pave potatoes, layered like golden bricks, stacked with Jenga-level precision, and fried to crispy perfection. Served with a delicious, creamy herby mayo. I genuinely wanted to eat the entire plate—but I had to pace myself. Brunch life problems, right?
And the main? A showstopper. The chef wheels out a Beef Wellington and slices it at your table with all the ceremony of a royal wedding. It’s juicy, rich, and doused in a thyme and red wine jus. My husband swears Gordon Ramsay still wins on Wellington, but this one’s giving it a serious run for its money.
Let’s give a round of applause to the side dishes. You might think mashed potatoes are simple. Wrong. These were so silky they could have doubled as moisturiser.
We also were given roasted herb parmentier potatoes—because clearly, one type of potato isn’t enough—and sautéed greens dressed in nutty pesto and parmesan.
Just when we thought we couldn’t eat another bite… along came dessert.
There was a baked chocolate number with blood orange sorbet, and a very photogenic white chocolate pavlova. Both were delightful. But the twist? Ice cream topped with olive oil and balsamic with crispy sourdough.
Yes, really.
It sounds like something your mate tried after a wine tasting class and a dare—but it works. Like, really works. It’s sweet, tangy, creamy, and absolutely bizarre in the best way. It’s the kind of dish that wins awards. Or at least starts conversations about whether balsamic and olive oil belongs in your dessert bowl.
What’s brunch without a good drink or five? Folly Brunch delivers on the beverage front in a big way.
The standout? The Folly Pop. Imagine a strawberry, pear, and agave cocktail topped with a cheeky ice lolly floating in Prosecco. It’s like your childhood ice cream van grew up and got a bartending job!
Add in a rolling gin trolley, plenty of sparkling wine, and the option to go full Champagne glam, and you’ve got a very happy afternoon ahead of you.
Top tip: go with the Champagne package if you’re feeling bougie—it’s worth it just to say “Oh I’m just on the Champagne package, darling.”
Let’s sum it up. Folly Brasserie Brunch is fabulous, from the garden-party vibes to the theatrical food and surprise desserts. It’s definitely not the cheapest brunch in town, but the quality, presentation, and experience are all top-tier.
Be warned: it can get pretty toasty when the sun’s high, so pack your SPF or choose a shadier table. The greenhouse aesthetic is beautiful, but the greenhouse effect? Less so.
If you’re looking for a brunch that nails food, flair, and fantastic drinks, Folly Brunch is it. It’s bold, it’s bougie, and it’s back—with enough personality to make your Instagram followers seethe with envy.
