REIF Japanese Kushiyaki – Dubai Hills Business Lunch Review

Reif’s Business Lunch in Dubai

If you love a good business lunch deal in Dubai, (and honestly, who doesn’t?), Reif Japanese Kushiyaki needs to be on your list.

Reif has always been close to our hearts, from grabbing lunches at Time Out Market to enjoying their brunch and even trying their ramen, which, fun fact, is only served until 6pm. Apparently, they’ve had quite a few very grumpy customers turn up in the evening ready for ramen… only to be told there was none. Oops!

The ramen was really good by the way. It didn’t quite make our Top 3 Ramen Joints in Dubai list, but that is only because this city is ridiculous when it comes to good ramen. Too many strong contenders. Anyway, let’s get to the real reason we were there. The Reif business lunch.

The Deal

Reif’s business lunch is AED 130 for two courses, and you get to choose two starters and a main. Pretty good, right?

If you have a sweet tooth, you can add the dessert of the day for AED 20.

For the quality of the food, it’s a seriously good deal.

Two Starters each!.

We ordered the avocado katsu, the Chef’s temaki selection, chicken gyoza and Hamachi maki. And I think it is pretty safe to say we ordered the crème de la crème of the menu.

The starters were incredible. Our absolute favourite was the chicken gyoza. The dumplings were delicious, but spicy sauce was genuinely mind blowing.

A close second was the temaki selection. The chef picks were avocado and cucumber, spicy salmon and crispy ebi, all wrapped in crispy tempura nori (lightly fried seaweed) that cracks with every bite. Each hand roll was bursting with flavour and had great layers of texture.

The avocado katsu also deserves its own moment. Soft creamy avocado wrapped in a perfectly crispy batter. Just a heads up though, it stays lava hot, so do not go in too fast unless you enjoy burning the roof of your mouth.

Mains. Surprise Winner

For mains we went for the salmon donburi and the gyu toji don.

Both were really good, but the surprise winner was the salmon. And this is coming from two people who are not massive fish fans. It was glazed in a sweet sticky sauce, cooked perfectly and had zero bitter aftertaste. I would order it again without hesitation.

Dessert. Zero Regrets

We skipped the dessert of the day because it had the word matcha in it and yeah, that is a no from us.

Instead we looked at the à la carte dessert menu, which is very good for an Asian restaurant. And because it was hubby’s birthday, it felt rude not to order something.

So we went for the vanilla soft serve with croissant.

Out came a huge, buttery, crispy black croissant with the most delicious, creamy homemade ice cream. And when I say it was good, I mean it was goooood! Seriously, order it. I’m actually drooling just thinking about it.

The Bill and The Vibes

Because it was hubby’s birthday, we were not exactly being frugal. Drinks and dessert are not included in the business lunch, so yes, we did rack up a bit of a bill, but the lunch deal did soften the blow.

If you are wise with it though, this is a great deal. Just be prepared to be charged extra for water and dessert.

The service was lovely. They even brought out a complimentary cake and a birthday card for hubby, which was such a nice touch. The cake was really good too.

We rolled out absolutely full. No shame.

Will we return?

Will we be back? Of course. Reif is already a local favourite of ours, and with the cooler weather right now, it’s even walkable from our house.

If you’re looking for one of the best business lunches in Dubai, with genuinely great food and real value, this one is hard to beat. If you’d like to book, you can do so like we did: book here.
