Son of a fish – Sunday Sunsets Review

Son of a Fish Dubai Review

Sometimes a restaurant name just grabs you. And honestly, Son of a Fish Dubai did exactly that. I mean… how could it not?

But the name aside, this place genuinely has it all. Great atmosphere. Ridiculous views. And food that actually lives up to the setting, which isn’t always the case in Dubai, let’s be honest.

Location & Views

Son of a Fish sits right on the waterfront at Dubai Harbour, and the views have that instant wow factor. This place is stunning. Truly.

We pre-booked, thankfully, because the place was absolutely buzzing.

Waterfront view from Son of a Fish Dubai

It felt more French Riviera than Dubai. Close your eyes for a second and you could almost believe you’re somewhere along the Côte d’Azur.

For sunset alone, Son of a Fish Dubai is worth booking.

The Vibe at Son of a Fish

Unfortunately, we discovered that if you’re doing the Sunset Sips deal, you only have two seating options: either at the bar or at a row of tables next to the DJ. Not exactly ideal if you’re hoping to conversation or enjoy that view.

But fair’s fair, everyone else is fighting for the prime tables too.

Luckily, our server was really helpful and arranged two small tables outside. Since we planned to order more anyway, we didn’t feel cheeky asking for a better table.

Sunset Sips Deal…Worth It?

Short answer? Yes.

Sunday sips menu AED120

Every Sunday from 4pm to 7pm at Son of a Fish Dubai, you get:

4 drinks and bites for AED 120.

Yes. AED 120!!!!

Drinks include cocktails, wine, and sparkling options, and these were actual proper cocktails. Not watered down. Not rushed. Just full of flavour and dangerously easy to drink.

My favourite was the Tiki Greeky.

The Food at Son of a Fish

The Sunday Sunsets deal includes some bites. This is what we received…

Sunset Sips Son of a fish bites

• Mixed Olives
• Fries with feta
• Chicken Souvlaki
• Crispy prawns

Crispy prawns
Crispy prawns

The portions were generous. Not tiny “token” bites. Actual plates you can properly share.

The fries were dangerously good and the prawns were huge, crispy and full of flavour.

The food was so good that we immediately ordered more from the à la carte menu.

What We Ordered

Selection of Dips & Spreads with warm baked pita – AED 90
Greek salad – AED 85
Beef Kunafa (beef cheek with truffle honey and lemon gel) – AED 145

Meze

The dips and spreads were absolutely delicious and very generous, 4 different dips plus pitas. Proper meze-style sharing food.

The Greek salad was fresh and vibrant, with large capers that made it stand out. It was seriously impressive.

Beef Kunafa (beef cheek with truffle honey and lemon gel)

The beef dish, if I’m honest, didn’t quite hit the mark for us. It was cooked well, but the lemon element didn’t really work for me. It sounded incredible on the menu, and I think everyone else at the table was a little underwhelmed too.

That said, everything else was beautifully presented and full of flavour.

Service

The service at Son of a Fish was friendly, attentive, and professional throughout. Even when the place filled up, they handled it well.

By the time the sun had set, the restaurant was buzzing.

Great music. Happy tables. Golden light over Dubai Harbour.

Amazing food, Amazing location, and amazing service. Did I say it was amazing?

Would I Go Back to Son of a Fish?

Absolutely.

The only thing to note is that drinks outside of the deal are on the pricier side. So I would likely return for another offer, perhaps brunch, or try their lunch which looks very reasonably priced.

If you’re planning a visit, I recommend booking ahead, especially for sunset tables.

You can reserve your table here: Son of a Fish Dubai.

For a stylish waterfront restaurant in Dubai with yachts, skyline views, nice cocktails, and generous bites, Son of a Fish Dubai should definitely be on your list.

And yes, the name still makes me smile.
